Christina has been a researcher at ICMPD since August 2023. Her current research interests include migration processes (including irregular migration), migration aspirations and decision-making, integration, identity and belonging, the psychological consequences of migration, as well as AI and digitalisation. With experience in qualitative research as well as designing, implementing, and analysing surveys, she contributed to the development of research instruments and conducted fieldwork in Iraq and Austria. She holds an MA in International Relations from the University of Essex and an MA in Peace Studies from the University of Bradford. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Migration Studies at the University for Continuing Education in Krems, exploring the social integration of migrants and its impact on their well-being. Prior to joining ICMPD, she held a research position at the same university, where she worked on EU Horizon projects, including one that employed co-creation and AI technology to help immigrants understand and access their entitled services. Christina is fluent in Arabic and English.
