Maegan has 15 years of experience conducting and coordinating research on migration, with a focus on migration trends and policies related to irregular migration. Geographically, her work has focused on Europe, the MENA region, and Pakistan.

Topically, her work has encompassed research on crisis-induced migration and displacement, migrant smuggling, border control policies and operations, and the use of new technologies in this regard.

She has contributed to large-scale research proposals (including under Horizon Europe, Horizon 2020 and FP7 frameworks), coordinated multi-country research studies, conducted empirical qualitative research with migrants, policymakers and civil society, and drafted academic and policy-oriented publications.

Maegan is fluent in English and French and has intermediary level of German and basic Arabic. Her academic background is interdisciplinary (Global Studies), with a focus on qualitative research methods.
