Martina Sekulová

Associated Researcher

Education: Martina has a degree from the Department of Ethnology and Culture Anthropology, Faculty of Art at Comenius University in Bratislava (2005) where she also defended her PhD. (2013) focusing on care migration and transnational care-giving practices of Slovak caregivers in 24-hour home care in Austria. She was awarded by Slovak National Scholarship for a visiting stay at the Centre for Mobility Studies (2010) in Lancaster University (UK) and ERSTE Foundation Fellowship for Social Research (2011) on research of the care migration.

Relevant experience and expertise:  As a researcher she has been cooperating with national and international organisations active predominantly in the area of migration, integration, gender, human rights and women reproductive rights such as Institute for Public Affairs in Bratislava (2006 - 2015), Aspekt, Slovak Academy of Sciences, Open Society Institute Bratislava, Citizen, Democracy and Responsibility, UNHCR Budapest and Migration Policy Group Brussels on the MIPEX project and also European Web Site on Integration where she currently acts as a Country Coordinator for Slovakia and Editorial Member (from 2010). She is author and co-author of several studies and publications.

Research interests: Her main areas of expertise are migration, gender and anti-discrimination.
