Education: studies International Development at the University of Vienna. Currently he is writing his diploma thesis on the topic 'Migration and Development - the role of remittances for urban households in Mexico City'.
Relevant experience and expertise: Since 2007 Alfred Wöger works as a research assistant at ICMPD. He has been involved in several international research projects on migration, including the FP6 project 'Promoting Comparative Quantitative Research in the Field of Migration and Integration in Europe' (PROMINSTAT), the project 'Regularisations in Europe' (REGINE) funded by the European Commission and the project 'Linking Emigrant Communities for More Development - Inventory of Institutional Capacities and Practices', implemented under Pillar II of the Mediterranean Transit Migration (MTM) Dialogue on Migration and Development. At ICMPD he is currently working on the project 'Promoting Sustainable Policies For Integration' (PROSINT).
Since 2009 he is working as a volunteer with recognised refugees. This semester he is also tutor for the lecture 'International Migration and National Development - Patterns, Problems, Policy' at the University of Vienna.
Research interests: Migration theories, migration and development (especially remittances), integration and migration policies.
