Education: Studied Sociology at the University of Vienna, University of Deusto, Bilbao and Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”.
Relevant experience and expertise: Since 2007 Mariya has been involved in the following ICMPD projects: PROMINSTAT; “Regularisation in the EU”; “FRA Policy papers in the area of racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia and anti-Semitism”. From 2005 to 2007 contributed to various EU-funded projects at the Centre for Social Innovation, Vienna, among which LAC-ACCESS; “European Unified Approach to Assisted Lifelong Learning”, “Promoting Equality in Diversity: Integration in Europe”. Mariya is a member of the Network of Excellence International Migration, Integration and Social Cohesion (IMISCOE). Her field sites include Vienna, Bilbao and Sofia.
Research interests: Migration and development, integration, EU external relations with Africa, LAC and US
